On this, the 16th day of May, I fell off the MMM wagon. And I fell off due to brain fart, not due to lack of clothing. I only had to teach one class today, so rather than waste the outfit, I decided to wait and wear something different after school. I forgot, and instead put on my yoga outfit, which is decidedly not me-made. Sadface. I suppose I should be happy that I made it 15 days in a row, and I will jump back on tomorrow with a dress I finished before class this morning. O, the irony…
It was a crazy freaking week last week, and honestly, I cannot recall what all I wore every day. I do know that I repeated some things, but I also wore my cream, pink, and brown NL6803, a blue and black pencil skirt I finished, a green and black pencil skirt, the blue and green pantaloons, and my V8469 dress (below). So in 6 or 7 days, I wore 6 new things! I finished a black Sorbetto, and am feverishly trying to finish more things so I don’t have to repeat quite so often. It’s getting tougher!
How are you doing?
On April 23rd, I pledged the following:
“I, Sarah of The Knitting Archaeologist, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May ’12. I endeavor to wear at least one (possibly two) handmade items every Saturday and Sunday for the duration of May 2012.’
I made this pledge with the knowledge that I don’t have many me-made items. My first two dresses were made several years ago when I was still cutting out fabric on my bed, and didn’t really understand seam lines or grainlines or even sewing straight lines. But I still love and wear those pieces for comfort. But I digress. The point is I thought I could only find stuff to wear on the weekends. I was wrong.
In the last year or so, I have managed to make 4 dresses, 3 blouses, 3 pairs of bloomers, and 3 pencil skirts. So far I have managed to wear something me-made EVERYDAY. I am quite pleased, but I will be sad when I run out of clothing. I suppose I can dip into my shawl and sock collections if I really get desperate 🙂
Blue Floral Sorbetto
Black and White Floral Sorbetto
Mustard Batik Shawl
Climbing Vines Pullover
Blue Floral Sorbetto (soooo comfortable I had to wear it again)
Red, White, and Blue NL6803
Burgundy Gail Shawl
Orange Birdie Sorbetto
I need to cut and sew faster to try to get more skirts and dresses finished for this month! How are YOU doing?
This is my inaugural relaunch into the blog world! I have been posting a ton of stuff on Ravelry and FB, so I thought it might be time to return to blogging. Me Made May is in full swing, and I have managed to wear something me-made everyday so far! More detailed post to come…
